Touch up, repaint rooms or repaint throughout?
Inspect the actual condition before choosing the extent of work. Small touch-ups may suit isolated marks where the original coating can be matched acceptably. A full wall or room repaint can be more consistent when wear is widespread.
There is no universal rule here that every tenancy needs a complete repaint. Decide which surfaces need attention and what standard you want at handover. Include doors, trim and closets deliberately rather than assuming they are covered by “interior paint.”

A vacancy schedule with clear handoffs
Painting needs to fit between other tasks. Agree when repairs are complete, which surfaces can be accessed, and whether flooring, cleaning or equipment work will happen before or after.
Give the contractor an authorized contact for keys and decisions. If a move-in date matters, discuss it early and ask what must be finished for that date to remain realistic. The timeline guide helps separate work completion from product readiness.
Build a repeatable paint record
A simple finish record can make later maintenance easier. Keep the brand and product line, color name or formula, sheen and the room or surface where it was used. Store any remaining paint as its label directs.
Using one color everywhere may simplify the record, but it is a choice rather than a requirement. Retained trim, cabinetry and existing finishes may call for separate specifications. See paint product selection for the information worth retaining.
Inspect and sign off before the next move-in
Inspect the work before other activity hides or marks the surfaces. Check the agreed rooms, repairs, cut edges and cleanup in usable lighting. Record any items still to complete and who will handle them.
